Tips for de-stressing
We all feel stressed from time to time, but what do we do when it all gets a bit much? It might help just to notice how stress comes and goes. Try doing the stress pot activity regularly to see how things move and shift. But when you feel like it’s overflowing, how can you get on top of things?
Relax
Take a break…if possible, take a moment to yourself, to step away from the stressful situation.

What do you love doing? Time spent doing something just for you is important.
Watch a movie / TV series or read – it can be a great distraction, a way to laugh or let out emotions.

Get moving
Get outdoors. Fresh air and change of scenery can do wonders for relaxing your mind.
Keeping active is so beneficial for your physical AND mental health.
Clean/declutter…busy surroundings can often foster a busy mind.
Take Action
Have some screen-free time. We can get so connected to the social world, we lose the connection to ourselves.
Learn about your brain. It can help to understand how your brain is growing and how that might affect how you feel.
Plan things into your life. Even if you start by simply planning out your day
Talk to someone, even if it means starting difficult conversations about how you’re feeling.
Express yourself
Get arty/crafty… it’s a great way to let your feelings out
Writing. It can be easier to make sense of things and calm your mind by writing down your thoughts and feelings. You could even write a blog for MindMate if you’ve got something to say!
Look after your body
Nutrition. The right fuel can help your body have the energy to tackle life, and stress.
Rest/sleep. When you’re well rested you can approach stressful situations more calmly.
