Top tips for supporting neurodivergent students

A neurodivergent friendly classroom meets the needs of all children and young people. The needs of Autistic, ADHD, Dyslexic, or any other neurodivergence, students are not problems to be fixed.

The creation of a neurodivergent friendly classroom isn’t about putting the needs of neurodivergent students above everyone else’s needs; it’s about embracing and valuing everyone regardless of differences in learning styles and abilities.  Neurotypical students will not be disadvantaged by any changes made – everyone will benefit.

There are a range of ways in which professionals can support neurodivergent learners; it might not necessarily mean making huge changes to practice but instead seeing things from a different perspective.
