Speak Up Leeds #BlackBoyJoy

All black boys deserved to be seen, heard, celebrated, and valued. It’s ok not be ok, but it’s better for you to speak up than to suffer in silence. We’re inviting black boys in Leeds to join the #SpeakUpLeeds campaign and influence change.

Share your story and the campaign on social, using the hashtags #SpeakUpLeeds and #BlackBoyJoy.

The #SpeakUpLeeds campaign aims to…

  • Encourage black boys aged 10-18 to talk about their personal experiences as a black boy and how this affects their mental health.
  • Encourage them to talk about how they feel, and encourage others to do the same.
  • Normalise the conversation around mental health among black boys.

The campaign was inspired by the Black Boy Joy movement which was created to show positive images of happy black boys, to reinforce confidence and support the right for black boys to be happy.
